About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and committed Registered Manager to lead a new children’s residential home in Southampton. This is a vital leadership role where you will set the tone for a therapeutic, child-centred environment that prioritises safety, emotional development, and positive outcomes. You will have the opportunity to build and shape a high-performing team and ensure the home meets and exceeds regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Provide strong, compassionate leadership that empowers staff and places children’s needs at the centre of the service.
- Operational Oversight: Ensure the home operates in line with its Statement of Purpose and all relevant legislation and guidance.
- Individualised Care: Develop and maintain tailored care plans that support each child’s unique emotional, behavioural, and developmental needs.
- Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work effectively with families, professionals, and partner agencies to create cohesive support networks around each young person.
- Safeguarding Leadership: Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), championing the highest standards of child protection.
- Resource Management: Manage staffing, budgets and resources responsibly, ensuring sustainability and high-quality provision.
- Staff Development: Recruit, supervise and develop your team, fostering a culture of learning, reflection, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum two years’ experience managing a children’s home.
- Qualifications: Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to achieve it).
- Knowledge of SEMH: Sound understanding of the needs and behaviours associated with Social, Emotional and Mental Health challenges.
- Communication Skills: Able to communicate effectively with children, colleagues, and external professionals.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Thorough understanding of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, Children Act 1989, and Ofsted standards.
- Innovation and Drive: A proactive and forward-thinking approach to service improvement.
- Driving Licence: Full UK manual driving licence required.
- Eligibility: Must have the right to work in the UK.
