Community Lead | Elderly Residential Care | Southampton | £30,000
We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established, privately run elderly residential care home in Southampton, seeking to appoint a Community Lead to a newly created role focused on visibility, engagement, and strengthening local relationships.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a leadership position that isn’t compliance-heavy or clinically focused, but instead centres around people, presence, and building trust with families, professionals, and the wider community.
The home has a strong Registered Manager and a consistent team in place. The internal side of the service is well-supported. What’s needed now is someone who can represent the home externally, reconnecting it with the community and helping it stay visible and valued.
You do not need a clinical qualification or CQC registration, but you do need confidence, warmth, and the ability to build meaningful relationships that reflect the values of excellent care.
Community Lead | Elderly Residential Care | Southampton | £30,000 | Non-Clinical, Relationship-Focused Role
As Community Lead, you will:
• Be a trusted, approachable face of the home, both in-house and in the local area
• Build and maintain relationships with GPs, social workers, discharge teams, and community organisations
• Represent the service at events, forums, and local meetings where appropriate
• Host open days, showarounds, and visits for families and professionals
• Coordinate light-touch marketing and engagement activity that reflects the home’s values
• Be proactive in spotting opportunities to increase local awareness and connection
• Act as a supportive partner to the Registered Manager and care team, without being responsible for clinical delivery
• Share insight from the community to help the team respond with relevance and impact
• Bring warmth, energy, and consistency to how the home is experienced from the outside
What we’re looking for:
• Previous experience in adult social care or community services (e.g., as a Senior Carer, Care Coordinator, Deputy, Activities Lead, or similar)
• Confident communicator with natural warmth and presence
• Strong local knowledge or the ability to embed quickly into the Southampton area
• Comfortable speaking with professionals and families in a compassionate, professional manner
• Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently to build trusted networks
• Emotionally intelligent, with a strong sense of personal integrity
• Flexible mindset, this is a new role, and you’ll help shape how it evolves
• Passion for care and a belief in what good services can do for people
In return, you’ll receive:
• Salary of £30,000 per annum
• Full-time, permanent role with autonomy and scope to lead
• Supportive management team with a genuine commitment to quality
• A visible, high-impact role where your presence will be valued
• Free on-site parking and workplace pension
• The chance to build a leadership profile in a non-clinical remit, without red tape or hierarchy
This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who thrives in a people-first role, wants to do more than just run the floor, and is ready to make a visible difference in a service that truly matters to its community.
