Job Title: Team Leader – Children’s Residential Care 

Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent (40 hours per week)

Salary: £28,100 – £29,100 per annum

About the Role

We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established therapeutic care provider for a skilled and compassionate Team Leader to join a children’s residential home supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).

This is an opportunity to step into a leadership role that makes a lasting impact—helping to shape care delivery, guide staff development, and ensure a therapeutic, trauma-informed environment that enables children to thrive.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Home Manager with the day-to-day running of the service
  • Ensure care delivery aligns with the home’s Statement of Purpose and regulatory standards
  • Supervise and support residential care staff in providing consistent, high-quality care
  • Lead on therapeutic planning and contribute to individualised care strategies
  • Oversee daily operations including rotas, audits, and delegated budgets
  • Promote safeguarding, participation, and children’s rights throughout all work
  • Collaborate with external professionals including education and health services
  • Participate in team meetings, reviews, and the on-call rota
  • Maintain a safe, nurturing, and emotionally secure environment for all young people

Requirements

Essential:

  • Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or Health and Social Care – CYP)
  • Significant experience in children’s residential care, preferably with EBD
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge and understanding of therapeutic approaches
  • Leadership skills with the ability to mentor and support care staff
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Flexibility to work across shifts including sleep-ins

Desirable:

  • Working towards or willing to undertake Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management
  • Knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and quality standards
  • Previous experience in supervisory or team leadership roles
