 Job Title: Senior Children’s Residential Care Worker

Location: Chorlton
Salary: £25,000 – £30,000 per annum + £50 per sleep
Contract Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)

 

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Children’s Residential Care Worker to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in providing a positive and therapeutic environment for children aged 8–17 with complex behavioural and emotional needs.

Working closely with the Registered Care Home Manager, you will lead and mentor a team of care staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and support that enables children to thrive.

 

Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager in implementing the home’s objectives and evaluating ongoing service improvements.
  • Act as a positive role model, providing direct support to young people and fostering their independence.
  • Deputise for the Registered Manager in their absence.
  • Oversee the implementation of each child’s placement plan, ensuring it is effectively followed.
  • Collaborate with professionals and parents/carers to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
  • Conduct staff supervisions and contribute to their professional development.
  • Ensure the home provides a safe, nurturing, and welcoming environment.
  • Promote community engagement, enabling young people to participate in local activities.

Shift Pattern

  • 2 days on, 4 days off rolling rota, including sleep-ins.
  • Opportunities for overtime with enhanced pay rates.

Requirements

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a residential care setting with young people displaying challenging behaviour.
  • At least 1 year in a supervisory or management role.

Qualifications:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People Workforce (Level 5 preferred or willingness to work towards).
  • Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and safeguarding practices.

Skills:

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a therapeutic and child-centred environment.
  • Full manual UK driving licence (essential).
