Job Title – Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Home
Location – Bridgwater, Somerset (Rural setting)
Salary – Up to £53,700 per annum (inclusive of bonuses)
Job Type – Full-time | Permanent | 40 hours per week
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Manager to lead a new 4-bed children’s residential service in Bridgwater, Somerset. This is a rewarding opportunity to establish a new home, embed a therapeutic care model, and support a team of dedicated staff to deliver outstanding outcomes for young people.
As Registered Manager, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring the highest standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance. You will be a strong and visible leader with a genuine passion for helping young people thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the operation of a new 4-bed children’s home in a rural area.
- Lead, supervise, and develop a team of 9 staff to ensure consistent, high-quality care.
- Develop and oversee care plans, risk assessments, and reports in line with statutory requirements and deadlines.
- Foster a culture of openness, professionalism, and therapeutic care.
- Ensure full compliance with Ofsted regulations and lead the home to achieve strong inspection outcomes.
- Represent the organisation positively with external agencies and within the local community.
- Participate in the on-call rota (approx. 2 duties per month).
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience (within the last 5 years) in a role relevant to residential childcare.
- At least 1 year of experience supervising and managing staff in a care setting.
- QCF Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management (Children and Young People) or equivalent.
- QCF Level 3 Diploma in Children and Young People Workforce or equivalent.
- Strong working knowledge of Ofsted regulations and safeguarding procedures.
- Valid manual driving licence, access to own vehicle, and business insurance.
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to adapt in a dynamic care environment.

- Occupancy bonus: £175 per child after the first child (e.g. £525 for a full 4-bed home)

- Ofsted bonuses: £500 (Good) / £1,000 (Outstanding)
- Non-contributory pension (9% employer contribution)
- Enhanced sick pay: 5 days full pay after 6 months
- On-call payments: £10/day (Mon–Fri), £50/day (Sat–Sun)
- Company sick pay after 6-month probation
