About the role
The Night Support Worker plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and wellbeing of an individual in their own home throughout the night. Key responsibilities include:
• Providing person-centred care and emotional support overnight
• Assisting with personal care including toileting, changing, and hygiene
• Supporting mobility needs: repositioning, transfers, and comfort checks
• Carrying out regular observations and household checks
• Responding calmly and promptly to call bells, alarms, or urgent needs
• Administering medication and maintaining accurate records
• Keeping the home environment clean, tidy, and safe
• Communicating effectively with family
• Writing clear notes in daily logs and care plans
Night shifts require patience, attention to detail, and a calm, reassuring presence. You will be the primary contact for an individual who wakes, needs support, or struggles to settle, ensuring they feel safe and respected at all times in their own home.
You will also be responsible for:
• Monitoring changes in behaviour, mood, mobility, or health
• Escalating any safety or wellbeing concerns appropriately
• Maintaining a peaceful and settled atmosphere to promote rest
This role is ideal for someone who:
• Feels confident working solo and taking full responsibility during the night
• Takes pride in delivering high-quality, person-centred care
• Has natural warmth, empathy, and builds trust easily
• Enjoys a quieter, steady-paced shift where thoroughness matters
