Contract: Full-time, permanent
Salary: £30,000 per annum
Bonus: Up to £400 per quarter (performance-based, up to £1,600/year)
Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm
On-Call: Required on a rota basis
Parking: On-site available

🔍 ROLE CONTEXT

16-bed residential mental health service for adults.
-
Consultant Manager currently in place (until end of July).
-
New permanent Registered Manager starting July – experienced but collaborative.
-
The home is undergoing full culture change and leadership reset following poor CQC inspection.
-
Resistance to change among long-standing staff is still present — Deputy must be able to lead, not follow.
📌 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Day-to-day service leadership in absence of Manager.
-
Oversee and support with:
-
Care planning
-
Risk assessments
-
Staff rotas
-
Medications
-
Safeguarding
-
-
Hold staff accountable and model best practice.
-
Work closely with external partners, LA professionals, and the internal governance team.
-
Support with assessments, quality assurance, recruitment, and audits.
-
Share out-of-hours responsibility on a rota.
✅ CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Must-Have:
-
Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care
-
2+ years’ experience in a Deputy Manager role (or equivalent) in a CQC-regulated setting
-
Proven safeguarding and medication handling experience
-
Strong leadership in turnaround or under-pressure environments
-
Comfortable challenging poor practice and working closely with senior management
-
Able to start quickly — ideally within 0–4 weeks
Nice-to-Have:

Working toward or completed Level 5 Diploma
-
Experience leading in services rated RI or Inadequate
-
Local to Gillingham or willing to relocate
