Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Home

Location: Chesterfield (S41)
Contract: Monday to Friday (9am–5pm) with occasional shift cover included within the 40-hour working week
Rate: £14.50–£15.00/hour (DOE)
With Level 5: £16.00/hour

About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced and caring Deputy Manager to join a small, well-established home supporting young people with complex needs. Working alongside the Registered Manager, you’ll have a vital role in both hands-on care and operational support.

This role is well-suited to a strong Senior or Team Leader ready to take the next step, with full funding and support offered to complete your Level 5.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead shifts and act as a role model to the care team
  • Support with care planning, reviews, and admin duties
  • Maintain high safeguarding and quality assurance standards
  • Step into management cover as needed
  • Promote a nurturing, child-focused culture
  • Share on-call duties with RM or MD (where appropriate)

Requirements

  • Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare
  • Experience in a leadership role within children’s residential care
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and safeguarding
  • Calm, organised, and confident leadership presence

Working Pattern

  • Shifts: 7am–7pm and/or 7am–10pm
  • Occasional weekday hours: 9am–5pm (office/admin tasks)
  • Main pattern: Monday to Friday, with some weekend flexibility
