Responsible Individual | Children’s EBD Homes | Leicester
A committed and experienced Responsible Individual (RI) is required to oversee and lead the operation of 2–3 children’s residential homes in the LE5 area. This vital leadership role ensures all homes deliver safe, nurturing, and high-quality care for children and young people, in full compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations, Ofsted standards, and safeguarding requirements.
The RI will provide strategic oversight, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement across all services.

Requirements
- Must have the right to live and work in the UK
- Must Be a driver and have a UK license
- Must hold level 3&5 NVQ’s
- Must have experience as RI or equivilent
Key Responsibilities

Act as the Responsible Individual in line with The Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.

Provide strong leadership and professional supervision to Registered Managers.

Oversee operational delivery, safeguarding standards, and quality assurance across multiple homes.

Ensure homes meet or exceed Ofsted requirements, aiming for “Good” or “Outstanding” ratings.

Collaborate with external agencies, local authorities, and professionals to ensure positive outcomes for children.

Lead preparation for Ofsted inspections, audits, and other regulatory visits.

Monitor service performance, identify areas for development, and implement effective improvement plans.

Ensure safeguarding and child protection standards are upheld and embedded in day-to-day practice.

Promote a culture of high expectations, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Essential Criteria
-
At least 3 years of senior leadership experience in children’s residential care.

In-depth knowledge of Ofsted inspection frameworks, safeguarding legislation, and regulatory compliance.

Qualified to Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).

Proven track record of managing multiple services or supporting several Registered Managers.

Experience delivering positive outcomes for children and improving regulatory ratings.
-
Strong organisational, leadership, and communication skills.
-
Enhanced DBS clearance.
-
Full UK driving licence with flexibility to travel across multiple sites.
Desirable Criteria
-
Prior experience as an RI already registered with Ofsted.

Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.

Understanding of therapeutic or trauma-informed models of care.
