Service Type: Ofsted-registered EBD children’s home

About the Role

We are recruiting experienced and qualified Residential Support Workers to join a high-staffed, therapeutic solo-placement home supporting a young person with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).

Due to the needs of the young person and known historical behaviours, female applicants are preferred in line with lawful occupational requirements under the Equality Act 2010.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a values-led, person-centred home offering strong staffing levels (2:1) and a consistent shift pattern, with fast-tracked interview and onboarding available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent, trauma-informed care to a young person on a 2:1 staffing ratio
  • Act as a positive role model, promoting trust, safety, and routine
  • Support with daily routines, education, appointments, and emotional regulation
  • Record detailed, accurate daily logs and contribute to care planning
  • Ensure safeguarding standards and quality care are upheld at all times

Requirements

  • Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
  • Previous experience in EBD or solo placement settings preferred
  • Full UK driving licence (essential due to rural location)
  • Ability to commit to a 2-on, 4-off rolling rota including sleep-ins
  • Female applicants only (due to specific risk-assessed behavioural history)
  • Must be 21 or over in line with Ofsted regulation

Pay & Benefits

  • Basic salary: £30,545 (inclusive of average sleeps at £40/night)
  • Performance bonus: Up to £3,600 annually
  • Total potential earnings: Up to £34,145 per year
  • Shift pattern: 2-on, 4-off including sleep-ins
  • Optional overtime available
  • Funded Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for aspiring seniors/managers
  • Career development pathway and regular supervision

Sample Shift Pattern

  • Monday: 10am start → full working day → sleep-in
  • Tuesday: Full working day → sleep-in
  • Wednesday: Morning handover at 10am → rest days until Sunday
  • Sunday: Back on shift at 10am to repeat cycle

About the Home

This is a well-resourced, therapeutic home situated in a quiet rural area near Preston. The team provides a high level of consistency and nurturing care for a young person with complex emotional needs, supported by 2:1 staffing and a robust leadership structure.
