Job Title: Residential Children’s Home Team Leader
Location: Lancaster (Capernwray, Carnforth)
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary: £27,800 basic, plus sleep-in payments (up to £6,700 per year) – potential total up to £34,500
Reports To: Registered Manager

 

About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and inspirational Residential Team Leader to join an established team within a warm, family-feel children’s home supporting up to four young people aged 8–18 with Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD).

You’ll play a key role in supporting the Registered and Deputy Manager to ensure a safe, nurturing, and positive environment where young people can achieve their potential. This includes leading by example, supervising staff, and ensuring the highest standards of care in line with Ofsted expectations.

 

Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered and Deputy Manager in the day-to-day running of the home.
  • Deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager.
  • Ensure care plans are developed, reviewed, and implemented to a high standard.
  • Promote safeguarding, equality, and inclusion at all times.
  • Lead and motivate staff, providing regular supervision and performance reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with Ofsted regulations, legislation, and internal policies.
  • Manage rotas, sleep-in duties, and on-call arrangements effectively.
  • Contribute to menu planning, food preparation, and household routines.
  • Support a positive team culture through open communication and staff involvement in decision-making.
  • Monitor budgets and resources, ensuring cost-effective operations.

 

Requirements

  • Level 3 Diploma in Working with Children & Young People (Residential) – essential.
  • Full UK driving licence – essential.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role within a children’s residential setting.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, behaviour management, and Ofsted standards.
  • Ability to lead a team, manage performance, and promote a positive working environment.
