Salary: £27,742–£30,035 per annum (including all extras)
Contract Type: Full-time (40 hours per week, with an average of 2 sleep-ins per week and occasional waking nights as required)
About the Role
We are seeking dynamic, enthusiastic, and forward-thinking individuals to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to provide essential care and support for young people aged 7 to 17 with Social and Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties in a 3-bed children’s home.
The role focuses on helping young people transition smoothly, whether to their birth families, foster care, or independent living, ensuring positive outcomes at every stage.
Key Responsibilities

Day-to-Day Care:
Support young people in daily living, helping to establish their identity and ensuring their wishes and needs are met. -
Activities and Interests:
Facilitate engaging activities, ensuring the safety, well-being, and development of young people. -
Health and Education:
Promote health and well-being while ensuring access to education and personal development opportunities. -
Care Plans:
Develop, monitor, and review care plans tailored to each child, including risk assessments. -
Promoting Positive Behaviour:
Create a secure environment, set meaningful boundaries, and provide consistent responses to challenging behaviour. -
Safeguarding:
Maintain a safe environment, recognising and addressing any signs of abuse or neglect.
Communication and Documentation
- Ensure accurate records are maintained in compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018.
- Adapt communication styles as needed to foster understanding and inclusivity.
- Facilitate forums for young people to contribute to decisions affecting their lives.
Partnership Working
- Collaborate with parents, carers, and professionals to deliver the best outcomes for young people.
- Share significant information appropriately while adhering to confidentiality protocols.
Professional Development
- Engage in regular supervision and reflect on practice to identify areas for growth.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

About You
Essential:
- Qualifications: Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Skills: Strong communication abilities, empathy, and commitment to high standards.
- Knowledge: Understanding of safeguarding procedures and care planning.
- Licence: Full UK driving licence preferred.
Desirable:
- Understanding of child development, therapeutic parenting, and positive behaviour management.
