We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Registered Manager to lead the launch of a flagship children’s residential care home in Mapperley Park, Nottingham. This home will be the first in a four-home Core Cluster delivering Tier 3 placements for children and young people with EBD and complex needs. You’ll oversee Ofsted registration, guide the operational opening, and play a vital role in the rollout of three further homes. Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Care
Location: Nottingham (Mapperley Park area)
Salary: £60,000–£80,000 per annum
Hours: Full-time, Permanent
Reports To: Responsible Individual / Director
Registration: Must be eligible and willing to register with Ofsted
Responsibilities
- Lead the Ofsted registration of the Mapperley Park home in Nottingham and ensure a smooth operational launch
- Deliver high-quality, therapeutic care in line with the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Ofsted SCCIF
- Recruit, develop, and lead a skilled and resilient staff team
- Drive excellence in safeguarding, incident reporting, care planning, and record-keeping
- Support the registration and mobilisation of three further homes in the cluster
- Mentor and guide developing managers across the wider group
- Build positive relationships with local authorities, commissioners, schools, and external agencies
- Lead Ofsted inspections, targeting ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ outcomes from day one
- Manage budgets, rotas, and internal audits in line with group governance
Requirements
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or willingness to complete)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in children’s residential care, including at least 1 year in a senior/supervisory role
- Demonstrated experience supporting or leading Ofsted registration and inspection
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and relevant legislation
- Experience with Tier 3 placements, complex needs, or EBD is highly desirable
- Confident leadership, excellent decision-making, and communication skills
- DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain)
