Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Care (Dual Site)
Location: Ilford, East London
Salary: £48,000 to £60,000 DOE
Contract Type: Full-Time
About the Role
We are seeking a confident and experienced Registered Manager to oversee two small children’s residential homes in Ilford. One home is fully operational with an Ofsted rating of Good, and the second—already staffed—is due to open shortly. This role is ideal for a proven leader looking to take ownership of a dual-site operation, ensuring high standards of care, compliance, and team development.
Responsibilities
- Lead two residential homes (4-bed and 2-bed), ensuring full compliance with Ofsted regulations and safeguarding standards
- Build and maintain a positive, therapeutic environment for children aged 8–17
- Provide effective leadership and professional development to staff teams across both sites
- Ensure sound financial oversight and resource management
- Develop and maintain relationships with external agencies, professionals, and families
- Prepare and confidently attend an Ofsted registration interview
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in residential childcare, including 1 year in a senior or leadership role (Regulation 28 requirement)
- Level 3 or Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Strong working knowledge of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding, and therapeutic care practices
- Proven ability to manage or help manage a children’s home to a high standard
- Excellent interpersonal, decision-making, and leadership skills
- Non-drivers welcome if based locally in or near Ilford
Salary
- £60,000 – For experienced Registered Managers able to lead both homes
- £48,000 – For experienced Deputies stepping up to manage one home
- Up to £38,000 – For candidates requiring sponsorship (visa supported for up to 5 years, subject to legal and compliance conditions)
Interview Process
- Stage 1: Face-to-face interview with the Director
- Stage 2: Interview with an external Ofsted inspector to assess readiness for registration
