Your Role

As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will play a critical role in providing tailored support to adults and young people in your care. Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering Person-Centred Support: Supporting individuals with daily living activities, such as personal care, meal preparation, and maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
  • Supporting Mental Wellbeing: Managing challenging behaviours using de-escalation techniques, aligned with individual care plans.
  • Encouraging Independence: Helping individuals develop life skills, including communication, budgeting, and decision-making, to promote their confidence and autonomy.
  • Collaborating with Professionals: Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, including social workers, mental health practitioners, and care staff, to ensure a holistic approach to care.
  • Safeguarding: Identifying and reporting safeguarding concerns in line with regulatory requirements to ensure the safety of those in your care.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience: A minimum of 6 months’ experience in the Health & Social Care sector, ideally working with individuals with mental health needs, autism, or complex behaviours.
  • Training: Completion of mandatory training such as Safety Intervention (formerly MAPA), PMVA, or equivalent de-escalation techniques is highly desirable.
  • Enhanced DBS: An up-to-date DBS registered on the update service, or the willingness to apply for one.
  • Attributes: Compassion, resilience, and strong communication skills to handle challenging situations effectively.
  • Driving Licence: A full UK driving licence is advantageous but not essential.
