Deputy Manager | Specialist Mental Health Residential | Bognor Regis | £30K + Bonus
Deputy Manager | Specialist Mental Health Residential | Bognor Regis | £30K + Bonus
We’re recruiting for a Deputy Manager to help lead a newly developed residential service supporting adults with complex mental health needs.
Based in Bognor Regis, this is a brand-new leadership post created as the home grows. There are no legacy issues, but there are high expectations. You’ll work closely with an experienced Registered Manager to embed structure, consistency, and quality from day one. This isn’t a “learning on the job” deputy post. You’ll need to lead shifts confidently, support staff through high-pressure moments, and act on issues before they escalate. It’s a role for someone with calm authority, strong clinical awareness, and solid experience working with risk, particularly around safeguarding, aggression, and mental health deterioration.
As Deputy Manager, your responsibilities will include:
1. Acting as second-in-command and making confident decisions in the RM’s absence
2. Leading from the floor, not behind a desk and being visible across the home
3. Coaching staff on shift around boundaries, best practice, and person-centred care
4. Supporting audits, rota planning, medication oversight, and incident handling
5. Helping new staff and residents settle into a developing, high-needs environment
6. Proactively upholding CQC standards and contributing to inspection readiness
To be considered for this post, all applicants should
· Already be working at Deputy, Team Leader, or Senior level in a CQC-regulated setting
· Have a background in specialist mental health care (residential, supported living, or step-down)
· Bring calm leadership and structure in high-pressure, emotionally charged situations
· Understand the difference between following policy and driving culture
· Want a stepping stone into Registered Manager level roles, and has the maturity to earn it
· Live within commuting distance of Bognor Regis and is looking for a full-time role
In return, you’ll receive:
£30,000 salary
Performance-based bonus
Full-time, permanent position (Mon–Fri core hours with shared on-call)
A newly built, well-resourced service with a strong RM and long-term growth plan
No chaos to clean up, just the chance to help shape something from the start
A leadership culture based on trust, not micromanagement
This is the kind of role where you won’t be firefighting legacy issues, but you will be expected to set the standard.
If you’re a capable, grounded leader who values clinical quality, team consistency, and real accountability, we’d welcome your application.
Apply by sending your CV and a summary of your leadership experience to: ebeleo@snghealthcare.co.uk Or call Ebele Ossai, Recruitment Director, on 02380 118228 for a confidential chat.
